Dear Parents,

Re extension to the school

As you will be aware from my recent letter, the building work for the new extension to the school will commence on Monday February 2nd 2009 and will, hopefully be completed by the end of September. Access to the site will be made through the end section of the fence at the front of the school alongside the hedge between the school and the Community Centre. Therefore, parking on this section will no longer be possible during the period of building.

Following a meeting with the contractor last week, the health and safety representative strongly advises that parents completely avoid driving or parking in the vicinity of the school during the period of building because of the heavy plant and delivery vehicles requiring continuous access to the school. Thus, in the interests of safety, parents are requested to park in the ample car park located to the rear of the shops.

As the junior playground will become part of the building site, junior pupils will enter school via a dedicated footpath to the side of the junior building. Junior pupils will be admitted straight into the classrooms at 8.45 am. Infant pupils may arrive in the infant playground from 8.45 am as usual.

Unfortunately, because the school hall will have to be used as storage, and space in the hall will be very limited, it will be impossible to hold class assemblies and Eucharists  to which parents are invited. However, school worship will continue as usual.

This is a very busy and exciting time for the school. We look forward to a school which will be twice the original size with increased space classroom space and a new ICT suite. These will provide our pupils with the very best of learning opportunities and enable them to meet the many challenges of life in the 21st century.

I appreciate the inconvenience caused by our requests relating to parking and I would like to thank you in anticipation of your support throughout the time of construction.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office.

Yours faithfully,

C.R. Ware (Headteacher)
